Project for works in an existing live very busy secondary school spread across four separate zones of the school, awarded under Able’s four-year building works framework with the Bishop Wilkinson Catholic Education Trust.
The work involved the adaption and refurb of four distinct separate zones of the school. A large part of the project was planning and managing the logistics and communication with all stakeholders and the school which was occupied and in use throughout. Health and Safety of building users, as well as workers, was priority number one. The project was successfully completed with zero H&S issues and minimum disruption to the pupils and staff.
Works were under a JCT Design and Build contract and included; demolition and alterations, partitions works, glazed screens, refurbishment, full and extensive new mechanical, plumbing and electrical installation, new replacement doors, extensive fixtures and fittings, new toilet installations and cubicles, staircase refurbishment, fire stopping and fire barriers to maintain the fire strategy and new floor wall and ceiling finishes throughout all four zones.
Able brought their own design team and managed the process picking up from the clients detailed brief for the project provided by Arcadis the clients consultant for all framework projects. Able also managed the design team developing the design in conjunction with all stakeholders including the Trust, Arcadis and St Thomas More Catholic School staff.
