Fracture Clinic & SDEC Unit at Sunderland Royal Hospital

HEALTH

Name of customer organisation: Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust
We submitted a competitive tender and a capacity and capability questionnaire, to secure this project through Sunderland Royal Hospital, who we have completed many projects for over the last 15 years.
We worked closely with the hospital building management team to ascertain all conditions and restrictions likely to affect the execution of the Works within a live hospital environment. This included the installation of temporary screens to prevent the escape of dust from the area of works into the main hospital building.
We also worked with the Hospital Engineers to identify and isolate all live services within the area of works, whilst maintaining all live services to other areas within the building and ensuring these remained operational through careful work procedures.
The project included works for the alterations to the Fracture Clinic and the Same Day Emergency Care unit with demolition and strip out of partitions, doors/frames and existing furniture to form a new layout comprising of; exam/consult rooms, lobbies, body viewing room, family room, plaster room and office with new finishes generally throughout the works area.
Finishes including the installation of new units, reception desks, doors and screens, installed by our own joinery team. New flooring installations, suspended ceilings and decoration works were undertaken by subcontractors from our own supply chain.
Mechanical and Electrical works were undertaken by approved hospital contractors.
During the process of the original contract, additional rooms and elements of works were added by the client and carried out during the same programme.
