Seton Avenue, South Shields

Start Date: July 2024
Completed: May 2025
Project Value: £934k
This project was awarded to Able following the unfortunate demise of a regional contractor. Able worked collaboratively with the client and design team to conclude all outstanding issues from building shell onwards. Project Managers Dome were introduced in the latter stages and Able worked very closely with them to successfully complete the project.
Able picked up this part completed project which presents its own challenges in terms of work carried out by others and also solving outstanding issues. Intensive input was needed and close collaboration with South Tyneside Council, JDDK Architects and Fairhurst's Engineers to pick up the threads and close out various issues.
The building was finished to a very high standard and provides a first class facility for the residents of South Tyneside, providing an Assessment Centre and safe welcoming environment for young people.
“Ken and his team from Able inherited a tricky situation on the Seton Children’s Home project, with the original contractor entering administration, leaving a partially completed building. The whole team from Able worked proactively to ascertain what needed to be done, including some areas of rework and the project was soon moving forward again. Communication was clear and constant, which along with a can-do, problem solving attitude from Garry the Site Manager meant issues were managed as they emerged and this enabled the project to be completed to an excellent standard.”
